GENEROUS dog owners have become part of an ever-growing band of fund-raisers who have helped play their part in giving a Whitby school girl a better quality of life.
Every year, the club, which encourages responsible dog ownership and socially acceptable behaviour of dogs, donates their surplus cash to a variety of local charities.
After hearing about 13-year-old Whitby school girl Laura Shaw who suffers from the life threatening disease, Cystic Fibrosis, members of the Hawsker Dog Club decided to start off their 2008 fundraising by presenting her with a cheque for £200.
Laura’s father, Kevin Shaw made an appeal for donations towards the improvement of his daughter’s health in the Windmill Inn, Stainsacre, where the Hawsker Dog Club holds their domino drives.
Members decided that the cause was highly worthy and recently presented the family with a cheque towards the appeal.
