A TRAIN was in collision with two stray calves on the Esk Valley Railway line this morning.
A spokesperson for Northern Rail said the six passengers on the train at the time were unhurt in the incident and continued their journey by road to Whitby train station.
The accident involved the 7.08am Esk Valley Railway train travelling from Middlesbrough to Whitby and occured before its arrival at Ruswarp station at just after 8.34am.
It meant the return train from Whitby to Middlesbrough had to leave from Sleights with passengers from Whitby station being transferred there.
Normal services were resumed by 11am.
