A MICHAEL Jackson fan has spoken of how he came face to face with the King of Pop – twice.
Alan Davidson (50) who owns a holiday cottage in the town’s Haydocks Place, but lives in Bradford the rest of the time, had the pleasure meeting Jacko at Uri Geller’s mansion when the psychic renewed his wedding vows to his wife Hanna.
CCTV instal
ler, Mr Davidson, who is also webmaster for Roger Moore and Uri, said he was “very sad” to hear the news of the singer’s untimely death on Thursday at the age of 50
The first time he met Michael was in March 2001 when he was invited to a lavish ceremony at Uri Geller’s Mansion in Reading where an enormous white marquee had been erected to shield Michael and the other celebrity guests including Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees, magician David Blaine and Sir David Frost, from the lenses of the paparazzi.
Michael, who had damaged his foot and was on crutches, was more than two hours late for the ceremony and eventually arrived by helicopter.
After the wedding ceremony, Mr Davidson said Uri had arranged for him and his family to meet him.
“I said to Michael the biggest pleasures I get from being Sir Roger’s web manager is the fact I am helping to highlight Sir Roger’s work as a UNICEF ambassador, to which Michael said, ‘I love UNICEF’.”
On another occasion Mr Davidson met Jacko back in 2002 on a journey to Exeter for a fund-raiser at Exeter Football Club, of which Uri was a director.
Fans were going crazy on the station platform and in the mass hysteria, Uri slipped while protecting Michael from the crowds and Mr Davidson was asked to help get him safely on board the train.
“Uri looked extremely strained trying to protect his friend and he shouted to me to help himself and Shipi, his manager and brother-in-law to get Michael on the train.
“We managed to push our way through and lift Michael up onto the train,” he said.
