TWO charity runners have succeeded in their bid to run a coast-to-coast route from St Bee's Head in Cumbria to Robin Hood's Bay in only seven days in aid of MS Research.
The pair, Phil Boardman and Ian Daniels, decided to do the run – the equivalent of seven marathons – because Phil’s wife suffers from multiple sclerosis.

They enjoyed fine weather through the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales but on the moors they met dense fog, making map reading difficult.

But apart from tiredness, the pair suffered only minor injuries to their feet and ankles.Their original aim was to raise £5,000 but to date have raised £5,835.

The aim of MS Research is to restore to sufferers the functions and capabilities lost as a result of the disease and to contribute to its eventual cure.
