The Bishop of Whitby, the Rt Rev Martin Warner, visited Egton C of E School to thank the children for welcoming him to Whitby.
Egton School was the first school to write to him when he took up the post of Bishop in January. He had previously been the Canon Treasurer at St Paul's in London.
The Right Rev Martin presented each of the 32 children at the school with a bible from the Bibles for Children charity with bookplates he had signed specially for them.
Headteacher Liz Orland said: "In their letters they told him all about the school and Whitby and how different he would find it from London.
"When he came to visit us he agreed that he was finding it very different. Where he was in London, for example, he had coped with 26 different languages.
"He's also a keen cyclist but he had to buy a new bike to get up and down our hills."
