THE elusive Beast of the Bay has been spotted once again near Whitby as the mystery surrounding it grows.
The panther has been spotted on numerous occasions between Whitby and Scarborough and the latest sighting follows a familiar pattern.

Alan Murie and his wife were travelling on the A171 road to Scarborough last month when they spotted the beast.

He said: “We were a little south of The Flask in a wooded area when a large black cat several times larger than a domestic variety crossed over the main road about 75 yards in front of us going from left to right.

“The way the animal moved was similar to the loping of a panther.”

The beast has previously been spotted in Whitby, Aislaby, Hawsker and Robin Hood’s Bay.
