Whitby theatre group seeks new recruits

THE hunt is on for a rehearsal accompanist for the forthcoming rehearsals of Whitby Area Musical Theatre Company's December production

Director, Rosalie Newlyn, is looking for someone to help the musical director for their forthcoming production, Seussical and she even managed to persuade company members to join the Regatta Parade, in the torrential rain to help in the search.

The welcome cvening for the production will take place next Friday (3 September) at 7.30pm at Caedmon School, when Sue and Rosalie are looking forward to welcoming back recent past members, young or old and would also be pleased to meet any new faces who would like to get involved.

But they say they would be even more delighted to find a new rehearsal pianist, to support the work of their regular rehearsal pianists.

Seussical is a new musical based on the works by Dr Seuss, but it isn't just a string of his stories set to music.

The musical's writers have created a totally new story which weaves together his most famous stories and characters in unexpected ways.

The Seuss lexicon includes hundreds of wondrous characters, creatures, places and things.

The show incorporates elements of at least 15 of his books, as well as many of his best loved and most familiar characters including The Cat in the Hat, Horton the Elephant, The Sour Kangaroo and Mayzie Le Bird.

And in the course of the show, some of the characters will fall in love, some will have desperate adventures and some will save the world.

It is sure to appeal to the whole family and if the welcome evening is successful in finding the cast and crew, the show will be presented at Whitby Pavilion Theatre from 9 to 11 December.
