Whitby and District Angling Club held its annual charity match at the Oaks Lakes Fisheries near Thirsk on Maple Lake, for the Forester’s Cup, with all proceeds donated to the Air Ambulance Fund.
With the start of the match at 10am, fishing was hard with only the odd fish coming to the net, but by feeding little and often the bites became more frequent as the match progressed.
The best bait for the hook seemed to be paste as this accounted for the top two places. The whistle blew at 4pm to end the match.
The Forester’s Cup was presented at the Rugby Club followed by a buffet and social evening.
First place went to Pete Agar with 39lbs, second Garry Smith with 38lb 2oz, third John Siddons with 28lbs 15oz.
A raffle was also held on the night and £300 was raised for the Air Ambulance Fund.
The angling club would like to thank Tom of the Oaks Lakes for discounting the peg fees and Pete at the rugby club for providing the buffet.
