Whitby 60s festival's 10th birthday

WHITBY'S 60s Music Festival is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a spectacular line-up.

The event staged at Whitby Pavilion welcomes the return of sixties' legends The Animals, Liverpool band Merseybeats and former teen idol Dave Berry and his band, The Cruisers.

Promoter Chris Wood said: "We are pleased to also feature fantastic chart names from the decade –- John Leyton, Mike Berry and Brian Poole along with other great 60s acts, this promises to be yet another sell out weekend with people travelling country-wide, to enjoy the music and memories of the decade."

A host of tribute acts will also take to the stage throughout the three day event which runs from Friday 24, Saturday 25 and 26 September.

The full line-up is:

Fri 24 September: Dave Berry & The Cruisers, Mike Berry and The Outlaws, Beat Club and 60s disco, 7pm to 1am.

Sat 25 September: Tributes to Roy Orbison, Dusty, Everly Bros, Gene Pitney, 60s divas and quiz, noon to 4pm; Merseybeats, Union Gap, Fourmost and 60s disco, 7pm to 1am.

Sun 26 September: Tributes to Elvis, Buddy Holly, Ricky Nelson, Bobby Vee, Billy Fury and 60s quiz; Animals, Brian Poole and The Electrix, John Leyton and The Flames plus 60s disco, 7pm to 1am.
