TV soap stars in Whitby production

TWO television soap stars are appearing in a forthcoming production with a twist at Whitby Pavilion Theatre.

And you can win two pairs of tickets to the show in Whitby Gazette, Friday 4 June.

Roberta Kerr and Gerry Hinks star in Elise and Norm's Macbeth, a comedy by John Christopher-Wood which is showing on Friday 18 June.

Roberta played Jan Glover in Emmerdale for four years as well as the character Wendy Crozier in Coronation Street, Sally Haynes in Brookside and Mavis in the Archers.

And Gerry has had character roles in a host of shows including in Doctors, Emmerdale, Bad Girls, The Royal and The Archers.

Gerry has played Reverend Broadbent in Coronation Street over the years, recently marrying Tyrone and Molly Dobbs.

In the show, Elsie and Norm are fed up with playing Trivial Pursuit and watching Dynasty have decided to have a bash at a bit of culture by staging a production of Macbeth in their living room.

After a spot of judicious re-writing by Norm fresh from his literary endeavours for the Pigeon Breeders' Gazette to make it snappier and more punchy and undaunted by the large cast, Elsie and Norm set out to act one of the greatest pieces of literature what has ever been wrote in the English language playing all the characters between them.

Well, all the characters that is except for Banquo which is played by a large toy panda in a kilt and his son, Fleance, played by a smaller toy panda in a kilt.

On the night a male cameo role is also up for grabs.

Anyone interested will be asked to put their name into a hat and wait for Elsie and Norm to pluck it out at the end of act one.

The five minute appearance will take place at the end of act twoi.

Seats are priced 9 full, 7 Friends of Whitby Pavilion.

Tickets are available from Whitby Pavilion Theatre booking office on (01947) 604855 which is open daily between 11am and 4,30pm.
