St Hilda's voices to raise charity cash

PUPILS at Whitby's St Hilda's Primary School will once again be showcasing their talents at their spectacular annual summer fund-raising concert on Wednesday.

The hour-long performance is being organised by the school council and will take place at St Hilda's Church, Bagdale, at 6.30pm.

The school choir performed at the Saltburn Music Festival last month where they competed against much larger primary schools from Ripon, Middlesbrough, Guisborough, Redcar and Stockton on Tees.

The quality of the children's singing was highly praised.

The adjudicator, Jeffery Wynn Davies, scored the choir 88 points in the choral class and 87 in the hymn singing – both marks of distinction.

And in the recorder class, pupil Bronwyn Hodgson came first, with yet another outstanding mark.

The day then finished with a game of rounders on the beach.

Last summer's concert was a huge success and the children have high hopes for this year.

Funds are being raised for the St Vincent de Paul Sudan Baby Feeding Project and Cancer Research.

The theme of the evening will be Children Helping Children and tickets will be available at 2 on the door.

Children aged 11 years and under will get in free.
