Spectacular photos at Whitby display
AN exhibition of spectacular photographs by Teeside artist Gerald Hickey opens at Whitby's Pannett Art Gallery next Friday (10 September).
Gerald, known as Ged, specialises in panoramic landscape images, many of local views, others of sites of natural beauty which Ged seeks out while touring the United Kingdom.
The exhibition, called Portfolio, will include what Ged considers to be some of his finest photos to date, taken in his first year as a professional landscape photographer.
A lot of this work has never been seen before and forms a mix of both panoramic and traditional sized images. Ged also hopes to include a large-scale experimental image presented in an unusual format
Born in Saltburn-by-the-Sea, Ged lived most of his childhood at Marske.
Now based in Redcar, he worked as a pipefitter and then as an interior designer before retraining in computer animation, leading to an interest in photography which has transformed into a passion and a full-time profession.
The exhibition runs from Tuesday to Sunday, 9.30am to 4.30pm from next Friday, to 29 September. For more information call (01947) 602051.
