The Charles Bathurst Inn, Arkengarthdale
Our first trip to the CB Inn was courtesy of a smashing perk through my line of work so naturally, myself and my family were looking forward to our stay. I am delighted to say we weren\'t disappointed. After a stroll around the pleasant market town of Richmond, we took in the glorious Arkengarthdale scenery before arriving at the CB Inn in all its glorious remoteness. The comfy, spacious room was a good start and dinner was also a treat, with a tantalising list of starters and mains written on the mirror above the roaring fire in the main bar. My pork fillet with black pudding and apple was accompanied with seasonal veg and proved a good choice, while my wife\'s beef casserole, dumplings and mash was a great way to stave off the hunger until the morning. The sticky toffee pudding - usually something I\'d avoid given the fact it is readily available everywhere - was well worth the punt too, being of high standard here. The beer slipped down well too. With no mobile phone signal or internet, we were totally cut off but given that it was a glorious autumn day and not the middle of winter, this could never be a criticism. Great food, a spacious room and outstanding scenery without any disruptions - who could ask for more? Many thanks to all at the CB Inn for our stay, we have fond memories of our weekend.
