Hopper set for folk club gig

A HIGHLY-regarded singer songwriter will be taking centre stage in Robin Hood's Bay for a special folk club gig tonight.

Simon Hopper will be accompanied by Andee Price, who plays stick bass, mandolin, bouzouki, guitar and sings too.

She is the multi-instrumentalist jewel in the Simon Hopper Band.

Simon tells new stories through new songs.

His subject is life, love and loss, where we came from and where we're going to.

He ponders the questions and sometimes seems to find answers.

Topical, wordy and intelligent, his songs pull no political punches.

Simon says he is influenced by British Folk, Joni Mitchell, Loudon Wainwright, Ron Sexsmith and Dylan and has as shared the stage with Bert Jansch, John Renbourn, Clive Gregson and Iain Matthews, among others.

Robin Hood's Bay Folk Club is at Ye Dolphin in the village's King Street and plays host every Friday night to a variety of local and visiting singers and musicians.

Uniquely there is no admission charge, but the club runs a raffle each week to help pay for the guest artistes booked from time to time.

A warm welcome is extended to all.
