GET your dresses and suit jackets at the ready - Whitby’s mayor is once again hosting his gala charity event next month.

Coun John Freeman is once again hosting the Spring Dinner and Dance on Saturday 23 March at Larpool Hall in Whitby.

During the evening people can enjoy a three course dinner plus coffee and a cheese board.

And after the meal, it will be time to get on the dance floor to live trio Nite Train who will play music from the 1960s through the years until the present day.

Other entertainment on the evening will include a performance from the Benson Stage Academy, a dance competition organised by LP Dance Centre and other fund-raising including a raffle on the night.

Coun Freeman said: “As tickets are limited please do not miss the opportunity to enjoy this special evening in Whitby.

“It’s a lovely venue. It went really well last year and we had some really nice entertainment and overall it was a success.”

People can make up a table with 10 friends or colleagues or alternatively, singles or couples can be seated together.

Proceeds from the evening will go to local charities and good causes.

Last year’s event was a sellout and raised £2,000 for local charities.

Funds went to Whitby teenager Dale Milne as well as helping small charities including a bereavement support group in the town called The Empty Chair, which used their money to pay for day trip for its members.

Tickets for the Spring Dinner and Dance are limited to 100 and are priced £29 each.

Anyone who can help with raffle prizes or who would like to buy tickets is asked to contact the town mayor’s office at Pannett Park in person, by calling (01947) 820227 or by emailing whitby.town.council@onyxnet.co.uk.
