Grainger to perform at Danby Castle

DANBY Castle, formerly the stately home of the Neville Family and one Catherine Parr, will be the unusual setting for a forthcoming concert by Commondale singer and songwriter Richard Grainger.

Born and bred in Middlesbrough and with family rooted deeply in The North York Moors region, the venue in the heart of the Esk Valley, is a familiar place for Richard.

His album War Horse attracted huge interest on its release and has remained his biggest selling CD to date and has a career which has spanned 25 years.

People should expect to hear songs from his forthcoming 2010 album and some old favourites too.

He has toured worldwide and has just returned from a couple of trips to Canada and is now finalising plans for tours in 2011 and 12 in USA, Germany, France, Italy, Canada and New Zealand as well as extensive UK dates – all shortly to be announced.

In support on this special evening will be UK-born, Canadian singer songwriter Helen Austin, who is now a resident of Vancouver Island, British Columbia.

Having worked on the stage for 20 years, firstly in comedy and more recently as a singer songwriter, her material has been likened to Simon and Garfunkel and has been heard in TV network shows and a recently produced 13 track CD.

Tickets are reservable from (01287) 660060,can be purchased online at www.festivalonthemoor.co.uk or on the door.
