GET your trainers at the ready - Whitby Leisure Centre staff are hosting an open day for people looking to get fit this New Year.

The event which is on from 9am to 2pm on Saturday 16 February will see 30 minute taster slots held for a variety of fitness classes throughout the day on the centre’s timetable and people can also make appointments with gym instructors to find out more about the centre’s fitness suite.

From 9am to 2pm, people can try classes including bootcamp, boxercise, Zumba, body combat, spinning, body pump, body balance, and kickboxercise.

For youngsters, they can join the fun too at a free FIT Club from 10am to noon. The club holds different activities week to week including Wii Fit games, swimming and visits to places including Pannett Park. Under eights must be accompanied by an adult attending the session.

Mums to be can enjoy a free taster session of Aquanatal comprising fun exercises in the water to music, run by a local midwife from 4pm to 5pm in the pool.

Any new mums can attend after their 16th week of pregnancy, subject to screening by a midwife before they take part.

There is no need to book, people can register on the day and join in with as many free classes as they like although spaces are limited for some classes.
