Events at ironstone mine

CLEVELAND Ironstone Mine has a host of activities lined-up for visitors this month.

On Saturday 16 February, the museum is having the first of its Spring lectures at 2pm on Alum, a forgotten industry by Peter Appleton. The lecture will present an overview of the alum industry which flourished in north-east Yorkshire from the early 17th to the mid 19th Centuries with particular focus on the Loftus alum works.

There will also be the opportunity to follow the lecture with a tour of the museum at group rates.

On Monday 18 and Tuesday 19, there will be family focussed Winter Wildlife activity afternoons from 1pm to 3.30pm where people can have the chance to make bird feeders and creature crafty creations.

All materials will be supplied and admission to the museum itself is not required.

For more information and current admission charges please visit www.ironstonemuseum.co.uk

The museum will also be open during half term and will open for the new season from 25 March.
