Bram film festival’s boost for St Catherine’s cause
Bram Stoker - for PH feature
St Catherine’s Hospice will this year receive fund-raising assistance from the Prince of Darkness, as the care provider has been chosen as the official charity of a popular Whitby film festival.
The Bram Stoker International Film Festival, which this year celebrates the centenary of the Dracula author’s death, has chosen to support St Catherine’s Hospice.
The charity runs a day hospice in Whitby and relies on the support of local residents, and fund-raiser Penny Campbell said: “St Catherine’s is delighted to be the chosen charity of the Bram Stoker International Film Festival 2012 in Whitby.
“The beautiful Whitby area is a focus for many artistic events and has inspired many people.
“We do hope that everyone coming to the film festival will enjoy the varied events and be kind enough to support the work of St Catherine’s during their stay in North Yorkshire.”
Each year St Catherine’s helps more than 1,500 patients and their families and the charity requires £4.5 million annually to carry out this work.
So the support of the film festival, which last year attracted almost 5,000 people, will help their work continue.
