From Teresa Richardson, Holman's Bookshop, Skinner Street, Whitby
I have watched with interest the unfolding fiasco of the planned move of the Scarborough Borough Council offices to the Tourist Information Centre.

Coun Bob Sigsworth voices concern if the move does not take place the council will revert to its original plan to use the TIC for a commercial coffee franchise.

Why should we be held to ransom by SBC?

Where is the democracy here?

How right Coun Jackie Daniels is when she says Skinner Street will be decimated by this move.

May I suggest that to counteract this, SBC erects signs at strategic places around the town informing people of the presence of Skinner Street and the shops and services it has to offer.

They cannot, after all, use expense as an excuse for not doing this.

Any organisation that can blatantly sell a property for a £102,000 loss must be awash with spare cash.
