I would like to refer to the letter from Owen Marshall regarding memories of Fishburn Park shops.

I have almost the same memories – there was both a butcher’s shop and a builder’s shop opposite the First In Last Out.

The builder’s shop, showroom really for fireplaces, was the first one in Park Terrace and AE Leefe the Butcher’s was next door.

There was no doubt about this as the builder was my father John Easton who was for many years councillor for Fishburn Park ward on the Whitby Urban Council.

Later, after both shops had become vacant, the new butcher changed premises and the original butcher’s had a chequered life.
