I woULD like to express my heartfelt thanks to the lifeboat crew for a very enjoyable lifeboat weekend which must have been difficult with the recent loss of the operations manager.
The crew deserve every credit for their professional manner.
The weather was not at its best on the Saturday but thankfully Sunday turned out to be more than adequate.
I would though to like raise my disappointment to the skippers of the Esk Belle, the mini Endeavour and some other private boats who chose to enter the harbour right in the middle of the main event forcing the offshore lifeboat to momentarily curtail its participation so the boats could pass.
It seems rather self-centred for these boats to come into the harbour when they were fully aware of what was going on, not only was it a selfish act but there could well have been possible health and safety implications.
As local boats they should give consideration to withholding their enterprises during the display.
It would at least allow the display to unfold to the delight of thousands of people watching it.
