So Robert Goodwill MP has backed his party leader's tough stance over MPs' expenses claims (Whitby Gazette, 19 May).
I wonder what he would have done with the MEP who confessed in May 2000 to claiming £500 for his flight from Brussels even though he had actually spent about £250 on an economy seat?
“I can pocket the difference and, as a capitalist, also as a British Conservative, I see it as a challenge to buy cheap tickets and make some profit on the system because that is the system,” he said.
Oddly enough, that MEPs’ name was Robert Goodwill, as well ...
It’s a funny old world.
