My husband and I are in our 70s.

We own a 4x4 not because we are rich but because we both have knee and back problems and it is the only car we can get in and out of with some ease.

We go to Whitby three times a week to shop, maybe Scarborough once a year, for things we cannot get in Whitby as the petrol is very expensive.

Now the Government is taxing us even more so we will go out less or give up the car and take taxis when necessary, which we can’t afford.

There are other OAPs in the same boat.

As we don’t go out much our carbon emissions are less than those who can afford it and go out all the time.

Pensioners are getting a raw deal again.

We moved to Whitby 10 years ago because we love it here but the hills are now becoming too much and we need the car.

Maybe the Government did not think about us but they never do.
