WHITBY Gothic Weekend regular Melanie Denyer aka DJ Lucy*Fur lost her fight for life in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Aged just 37, Mel was first diagnosed with the illness in October 2006, after having a cyst removed.

A host of fund-raising ideas were dreamt up and took place up and down the country as well as sorts of sorts of events which were organised by her legion of friends at the latest gothic weekend to raise money to care for Mel, who after undergoing chemotherapy treatment, was left extremely weak.
But Mel always vowed to fight her illness and vowed she would stay positive.
This bravery was shown in her myspace blog where Mel always kept a positive outlook on her condition.
"I am just so aware of it all the time and the constant ticking of my life clock as loud as a bomb in my head", she wrote.
"However, I will not give up and the fight goes on".
In December, Mel received the news her tumour had shrunk slightly from the chemotherapy.
But worse news was to follow as she also found out her illness was incredibly rare which meant there was no immediately suitable trials for treatment.
And Mel was now also faced with having to undergo a more aggressive chemotherapy called Topotecan and Radiotherapy.
After continuing with the treatment which, for a time shrunk the tumour, her condition deteriorated in January this year, and she was rushed into hospital for an emergency platelet transfusion.
In February, Mel was admitted to hospital again, this time in serious pain, where it was found her tumour had more than doubled in size.
She was admitted to a hospice in Edinburgh at the begining of April, and although she returned home shortly afterwards, her condition continued to deteriorate and she passed away in her sleep at around 1am on Wednesday.

You can leave your tributes to Mel or send messages to her other half Stuart, family and friends as comments at the bottom of this story.
