GOTHS have been arriving in Whitby in their droves ahead of the weekend's festivities.
The town is ready to host the first Gothic Weekend of 2007.

A range of events are taking place across Whitby with a carnival atmosphere guaranteed to attract an array of weird and wonderful characters.

Gothic Weekend regular Claire Amaranth was out enjoying the morning sunshine around the harbour on Thursday.

She has travelled up with friends from Southampton to be in Whitby this week but originally hails from South Africa.

“What I like about the gothic weekend is that it is like a seaside holiday with 200 of your closest friends,” said Claire.
