New gamekeeper generation is not as good

From: Mrs J Deane-Smith, Borrowby, Saltburn

I was interested to read your article implying gamekeepers are good for wildlife.

I think this was true of the old-style keepers but not of the new generation.

Conservation is not a work that sits comfortably with the so-called ‘sport’ of shooting.

The survival of any birds or mammals is purely coincidental.

All the birds mentioned are clearly not predatory, therefore no threat to the shoot.

They just happen to require the same habitat as game birds.

We have to ask ourselves do we really want to see the use of cruel snares perpetrated?

Is it morally acceptable to slaughter foxes, stoats and crows (and any other unfortunate creature that happens to walk into a snare) in order to preserve game birds for those who derive pleasure from killing them?
