Huge effort to make weekend such a success

We kicked our Whitby Gothic Weekend (WGW) off on the Wednesday spending the day delivering WGW guides to all the hotels, B&Bs and holiday cottages we could think of.

These were greatly received and we spent a lot of time talking to the owners, taking in some good ideas and generally sharing our excitement for the coming weekend.

The Thursday saw Mirth @ The Met, our charity night to raise funds for Raw Animal Rescue and Whitby Round Table.

I was very pleased with the level of attendance from both local people and visitors and the broad spectrum of people made for a hilarious night of comedy followed by a beautiful set from Alice Moving Under Skies.

Friday we decided to repeat our very popular 80s themed night at The Met with DJ Lucretius, this time dedicating the show to the memory of Ian Curtis. Attendance was up on October and the dance floor was full.

Whitby Rifle Club played host to our Steampunk Extravaganza.

Synthonym played an amazing set and had almost everybody up and dancing while Ghost and Dr Bastardo kept them on the dancefloor for the remainder of the night.

Saturday saw our now infamous fancy dress party, Committed to The Met.

Everybody made a huge effort and there were some weird and wonderful costumes.

Whitby Rifle Club hosted the second night of our Steampunk Extravaganza with Ghostfire, DJ Ghost and a Steampunk Quiz hosted by Major Tinker. A good night was had by all.

Our trade venues (The Met, Rifle Club and Whitby Leisure Centre) saw record numbers (for April) and our traders left happy and ready for another busy October.

We at Dark Daisy promotions would like to thank all who helped make this possible.

You know who you are.
