Grosmont house fire

Two adults escaped unharmed from a house in Grosmont after a fire on New Year’s Eve just after 9pm.

Crews from Goathland, Whitby and Robin Hood’s Bay were called to the detached house in Front Street.

It started from heat radiating from a chimney breast which spread to a wardrobe causing extensive fire damage to a first floor bedroom and heat and smoke damage throughout the first floor.
