Farmer allowed to continue holiday let
APPROVAL was given by the North York Moors National Park planning authority to allow an agricultural worker’s bungalow to be used for holiday lets.
Tim Lawn of Hollybush Farm, Littlebeck had been getting permission to use the bungalow for holiday letting for temporary periods since 1999.
Officers said it appeared the holiday letting worked well and significantly helped the viability of the farm enterprise.
They pointed out that in view of the history of holiday use permissions and the lack of change in the current farming climate as well as the encouragement of rural business in the national planning policy they considered that a more flexible dual use would be in keeping with previous decisions.
They agreed that when the bungalow was not needed as an agricultural worker’s dwelling it could be used for holiday letting.
There was an objection to a permanent relaxation of the planning condition from Eskdaleside-cum-Ugglebarnaby parish councillors but they would support a further temporary relaxation.
