Barbaric to think of shooting at seals - COMMENT ON THIS LETTER
HOW shocking it is to read about the possibility of someone shooting at seals, it seems a very barbaric act to even consider.
Do seals really create that much damage to already dwindling fish stocks that such drastic action need be taken?
More importantly, I would be very concerned knowing someone was using a firearm not that far from the beach.
There are surely some very serious legal ramifications if indeed someone was careless enough to do so.
Were it to become widely known someone was shooting at seals not far from the shore, there is a danger it could impact quite badly on the town's reputation.
We would like to express our disappointment to learn the planned May Bank Holiday street fayre has now been cancelled.
The organisers have obviously worked very hard to bring something new to the town, at some cost.
There seems to be quite a disproportionate result with 47 in favour of the fayre and just three objections.
Following the Easter fayre it seems there was more stalls expected.
It is a little narrow-minded to object to something that would not even be that often.
I would have thought businesses on the West Cliff would have been in favour of the fayre as it would undoubtedly encourage more people to go along that part of the town?
Clearly then the three objectors are not business holders who would have welcomed the extra revenue.
