A big thank you to all supporters
I thought you might like to know the money that you all raised in conjunction with Whitby Now for the Help for Heroes charity at our fund-raising evening in October eventually came up to £9,000 (well it was £52 short of that amount actually but Whitby Now made up the rest as it is so much nicer to deal with round numbers.)
I am just waiting for the receipts from the charity and then I will put them on display in Landers Butchers, Baxtergate.
People still stop me in the street, ring me up or come in to our shop with either money or questions about Help for Heroes.
While I am not an official for the charity I am more than willing to keep on sending the money if you keep bringing me it – I will always put the receipts in our shop so you can see all is above board.
Last week Mrs Mary Parkin brought in 500 for Help for Heroes that had been raised on a charity quiz night in memory of her son Mike Parkin, a fisherman lost at sea.
Also, after Christmas, Day Lewis Pharmacy brought in 150 from a tombola and collection they had run.
People also collected for Help for Heroes on the Boxing Day dip and brought me the proceedings (I put these two amounts onto the 9,000 total but should soon get a separate receipt for the 500 from Mary and her family.)
Can I also urge you all to support another worthy cause coming up soon.
I would like to say one last thank you to everyone who worked hard to put our event together and for the generosity you all showed for such a great cause.
